Welcoming Aaron Joncas, K-12 METCO Program Director

5 November 2009 » Featured / Climate for Freedom

It is with tremendous excitement that I write to introduce myself to the Concord, Carlisle and Boston communities as the new METCO Program Director. The school year is well underway, and our students are focused on high achievement.

In order to be successful in today’s global society, students need an outstanding educational foundation. I am confident that if we work collaboratively – parents, students, teachers, and members of the community – each student will develop the critical skills to be successful. A focal point for all educators in the district is to produce high quality students who also possess exceptional values, integrity and leadership skills. I have identified tangible goals for the METCO program this year, and will be working hard to accomplish them.

In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of education.”

Working together, we can ensure that each child enrolled in the METCO program realizes his potential as a student and member of the community.
