On January 16, the CCHRC honored Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy at our 26th annual celebration event at the Fenn School in Concord.
We started the evening with a short but powerful movie on Dr. King’s life. Following the film, the Fenn Treble Chorus, the Willard Fifth Grade Chorus and the Joyful Voices of Inspiration Chorus of Boston performed folksongs, spirituals and gospel music. We ended the evening with The Willard Fifth Grade Chorus leading the audience in a beautiful and very inspiring rendition of “We Shall Overcome”, bringing the audience to its feet.
Our talented emcee for the evening was once again CCHS graduate and Abby Fund member, Charisse Gilmer Alouidor. It is an honor to be able to sponsor this event each year. With all that is happening in the world today, it is so meaningful to be able to come together as a community and rejoice in the power of Dr. King’s message, a message that is perhaps even more important today than when Dr. King first delivered it.
